How do I become a Kindergarten teacher?

To become a Kindergarten Teacher you must complete a three-year Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education). If you already have a bachelor degree in another subject, complete a one-year Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education).

Overseas qualifications must be comparable to a New Zealand early learning or primary teaching qualification. Teachers with an overseas qualification must apply to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) for an International Qualifications Assessment.
