ABOUT
Kia Ora and welcome! Our kindergarten welcomes tamariki from all around our rohe. We have a long history in our community dating back to the early 1950’s.
We offer an environment that encourages, supports, and nurtures the mana of tamariki in partnership with their whānau.
Following our bi-cultural curriculum, our kaupapa is to value te reo Māori and use it eloquently, demonstrate tikanga Māori in all our practice and demonstrate manaakitanga (love and compassion) in our interactions with tamariki and whānau.
Our Values/Philosophy
Our relationships promote trust, sensitivity, flexibility, aroha, understanding, manaakitanga and patience with tamariki/whānau. Our curriculum provides for tamariki to take initiative, be active, practice language skills and to enjoy creative opportunities. Our kindergarten reflects the unique place of Māori as Tangata Whenua and the principles of partnership inherent in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Whānau Comments
“Bell Block Pohutukawa Kindergarten is an amazing asset for our family. This is our second child to attend the kindergarten –however their father, Aunty and Uncle also attended when they were young. When entering we are always warmly greeted with lots of different experiences to immerse into, which helps settle the children. We always have lots of communication with the teachers – whether it is face to face or over Storypark, so we are regularly kept up to date with everything. My child loves playing with all her different friends, and I see so much growth and development occurring everyday with her. Sincerely, Sally B.
“My daughter always loves to come to kindy. There is an overall sense of kindness, care, and encouragement from the teachers. They never seem too busy to get on the children’s level and really listen to their questions and concerns. They are understanding and extremely respectful to our families wishes”. Rebecca S
