Kindergarten Taranaki is a not-for-profit association providing low-cost early childhood education for whānau across Taranaki.
Our kindergarten’s employ only 100% qualified and registered Kaiako/Teachers, which means that you can be confident that your tamariki are being taught by an experienced and knowledgeable team of educators.
We offer up to 30 hours free ECE per week for all tamariki aged 2–6 years* (*except Koru Kindergarten)
Kindergarten delivers the New Zealand curriculum, Te Whāriki, using a learning through play model. Kaiako recognise tamariki’s interests and turn them into learning opportunities, expanding and developing language and social skills. Tamariki have the time and space to explore their own interests in their own time, encouraging curiosity, and laying the foundations for life-long learning.
Kindergartens are located in communities where tamariki live and go to school. Each of our kindergartens are as unique and diverse as the communities they are located in. Kindergarten Taranaki gives tamariki a great start to their education journey in a caring, community environment.
Whānau are always welcomed and encouraged to be part of their tamariki’s learning journey – from day-to-day activities, outings, shared kai and special events, through to sharing stories from home on the online Storypark app.
Kindergarten Taranaki is part of Taranaki Enviroschools. Enviroschools is a nationwide programme where early childhood centres and schools commit to a long-term sustainability journey, where tamariki/students connect with and explore the environment, then plan, design and take action in their local places in collaboration with their communities.

Our kindergartens are set in spacious, natural environments offering lots of room to explore, run, jump, play and discover.
Get involved with your local Committee, Whānau Group or Board to help shape the future of Kindergarten Taranaki.
It’s a rewarding way to build governance skills, support fundraising and events, and strengthen community connections. By working alongside teaching teams, you’ll help guide the direction and culture of our kindergartens. New members are welcome anytime—reach out to your local kindergarten to learn more.
We offer up to 30 hours free for all tamariki aged 2–6 years* (*Except Koru Kindergarten)

Whānau Donations
The Ministry of Education funding does not cover all kindergarten costs. To assist with meeting the daily running costs of each kindergarten, we ask families to make regular donations.
The suggested donation is $10 per week (50 cents per hour for up to 20 hours).
Donations ensure kindergartens can maintain a high standard of education, including employing only trained and registered Early Childhood Teachers. All donations received from families are retained by each kindergarten and channelled back into children’s learning.
All donations paid to the kindergarten can be claimed on an annual basis to receive a 33% tax credit refund from IRD.
