Merrilands Kindergarten

Tucked away down a long driveway hides Te Whare ō ngā Puāwai (The House of Blossoms), Merrilands Kindergarten.

A diverse learning community where we value tamariki (children) as taonga (treasure) and respect their rights to kindness, love, safety, whānaungatanga and manaakitanga.

We work in collaboration to enhance the potential of ngā tamariki, by developing responsive reciprocal partnerships between our whānau, kaiako (teachers) and the wider community.

Our learning community is warm and welcoming, we embrace inclusion and participation by all. We celebrate diversity and the unique identities of people that form the richness of our society.

Our large open outdoor space is complimented by an indoor environment that is carefully considered and intentional in response to the needs of all ākonga (learners). Children can anticipate regular routines and caregiving practices.

We promote respect and responsibility through positive language, clear expectations and consistency to nurture life-long learning habits.

Kaiako weave aspects of Te Ao Māori, and Te Reo Māori to support and protect mātauranga Māori (knowledge), empowering the future kaitiaki (guardians) of Aotearoa.
